You can be involved in getting Bibles to China without even traveling to Asia. Each packet of Bibles costs about $3.45. The packets include a Bible, the Jesus Film, various tracts and Christian DVDs. Your giving to the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering and Cooperative Program helps to support workers to coordinate this project. Funding for Bibles and distribution materials comes from other sources.
Southern Cross needs 36 new teams to come work three different popular Chinese vacation spots in Asia.

Posting for a long term volunteer with SCP right now:
We gave out four boxes (100 Bibles) before the volunteer got here. That’s amazing! How we did it was through a Christian tour guide. He came over to talk to us and ended up helping us distribute. He grabbed a box would walk over to a group in a place we were not allowed to go and hand them out. He ended up bringing a young man over to talk to us. This young man’s father is a preacher and needed a Bible The tour guide wanted us to know the importance of what Southern Cross is doing – getting Bibles into China.
I have been on a Southern Cross Project volunteer trip twice. My 12 yr old daughter went with me the second time. She is now 14 and we are raising money to go again! Our hearts remain in prayer for Southeast Asia, those in need and those who volunteer. We saw God at work in a mighty way. It is so exciting to be a part of what God is doing through Southern Cross, knowing you are making a difference, changing lives for eternity!
?The Chinese tourists had been going AROUND the pavilion all night, as our team tried to distribute Bibles. I decided to go to the end of the Pier and prayer walk the next boat load of tourists, praying God would bring them through the pavilion. As they came off the boats, I was right in front of them, praying out loud. An Indian guru came up in front of me and began chanting and praying too, in his language and who knows, what kind of prayer. Monks were over in the parking lot, chanting over the loud speaker. And prostitutes were coming toward the 200 or so tourists behind me. I have never experienced such a battlefield and looked to the sky as I prayed and could almost see that realm of angels and principalities warring over the souls of those behind me. As I continued to pray, I walked through the pavilion…. and so did the Chinese tourists who were behind me. Many of them accepted Bibles. The Lord won the victory over the enemy and the powers of darkness were defeated in those memorable moments.
I’ve been on four SCP trips, one of which I was the team leader. The first trip that I went on (which was also my first M trip) I felt lead to do more praying for the teams as they did distribution as opposed to doing the actual distribution. That was the first time that I had ever prayed that much in a confined time and place. As I walked the pier those nights for multiple hours at a time I kept having visions of warriors on the lamp posts with swords drawn and touching, in the middle of the walkway, thus creating a secure place for the people walking below. I now know that the L was preparing me for one of the most difficult times of my life, that would be awaiting upon my return to the States from that trip. It was because of that SCP trip that I was able to have the discipline and understanding to lean on Him during that difficult time. There is no doubt in my mind that I couldn’t have made it through that time without SCP. So in conclusion, for those that may be teetering going on a M trip, let me encourage you, GO. You will be a blessing to those that you minister to, but the L will also change you in ways that you can’t imagine.
Just got home from my first trip and all I can say is wow. Now I know why it is called the great commission, the needs and rewards are greater than I can express. Working with people from around the world that are sold out for the lord is awesome. I would argue that their is nothing more beautiful in this world than seeing the spirit use the love that has been given to us to move in the hearts and lives of a people that have no relationship with a holy God. If you are still uncertain about foreign missions I would say listen to the words of wisdom one of the long term vols gave my team. The star that shines the farthest shines the brightest at home.
Nelta & I spent 3 years as staff with Southern Cross Project (2006-2009) and we have never regreted following God’s calling to the mission field. You become a warrior for Christ and each bible is just another seed that is being planted, that WILL be harvested somewhere in China. To GO is a blessings not only to the Chinese people, but also one that you will receive and never forget. Step out of your comfort zone and enjoy the Great Commission. Pray and listen for HIS voice, He may be calling you right now. Blessings and prayers always.
