A Chinese man got out of taxi right next to where some of the Southern Cross team was distributing. The taxi driver apparently told the visitor it was a famous place in this Asian city. As the man exited the taxi, he looked up at the stones and said, “He brought me here to this bunch of stones?”
Our team chatted with him and told the man, “Actually you came here to meet us so we could share a Bible with you.”
At which the man replied, “Oh, I almost took the one from the hotel! So now I can have this one?”

A female visitor from China visited a church a couple times and heard a little about the Christian faith, but never believed. One of the volunteers shared briefly with this Chinese woman. Realizing this woman’s interest, the volunteer asked her to read aloud in Mandarin the explanation of John 3:16. The volunteer explained more about each phrase and pointed out the prayer at the end of the passage.
“If you’d like to pray this prayer yourself, you read it out loud and add your name everytime the words ‘me’ or ‘I’ appear,” the volunteer explained.
The Chinese woman read the prayer using her own name in each place. She realized this was a personal commitment! She left the famous landmark with more than a photo: she left with a new start, the Father’s Word, Christian cd’s and booklets to help her in her new life.
