Learning Urdu

The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach. The way to Aabidah Bose’s* heart was also through her stomach.

For six years, Aabidah harbored anger against her husband for leaving the Muslim faith and becoming a Christian.

Aazim Bose* chose Jesus after he learned from a traveling evangelist that the Quran points to the Bible and Jesus.

His family threatened to kill him. His wife fought with him.

In 2006, stomach pain plagued Aabidah. Aazim prayed over her, and the pain went away. Through this, she realized how powerful Jesus is. After six long years, Jesus found a way to Aabidah’s heart through her stomach.

God called the Boses from their village to Kolkata to share the Truth with Urdu-speaking Muslims.

This meant that these native Bengali speakers needed to study Urdu. Aabidah is learning how to read Urdu with Cynthia Follen*, a representative in Kolkata, so she can read the Bible in Urdu. Follen is not a native Urdu speaker but has learned the language so she and her husband Gary* can reach Muslims in Kolkata.

Aazim and Aabidah meet with a jamaat, a house church of Muslim background believers, once a week. The Follens and the Boses have a vision to reach all Muslims in the city

The Boses ask that you pray for their ministry in Kolkata. Pray for protection for their family. Also pray for the members in their family who have not accepted Jesus as Lord.
