“As we’ve gone out into the neighborhoods to share, I’ve seen lot’s of young men playing cricket” said Chris, a volunteer with the Southeastern team. “I’ve been wanting to play and share … with them.”
On one of his walks through the city, Chris saw three young men. One was carrying a cricket bat, so he started up a conversation.
“I told them I wanted to learn how to play and asked them if they would teach me,” Chris said.
But he also told the boys that he wanted to teach them something first. After Chris shared the Gospel message, two of the boys said, “Yes, I want to believe. I believe in Jesus now.”
As soon as Chris finished praying, one of the young men turned and immediately began sharing Jesus with a man who happened by on the street. Although the man was uninterested, Chris was encouraged that this new believer was so quickly sharing his faith.
But there was still a new sport to learn. True to their word, the young men took the volunteers to a field and tried to teach them the game of cricket.
“They had a lot of fun beating us,” Chris laughed. “ … Cricket is nothing like baseball.”
