“I believe Jesus came and died to help the people of the world, but he is just one of many gods,” the young Indian woman said politely in English, “You have what you believe. Here in this culture we have what we believe, and I cannot follow only Jesus.”
I was visiting in homes with five other Indian Christian women. I was amazed as they boldly shared their stories of how Jesus has changed their lives. In one home, the young woman received us and listened politely as my new friends poured out their hearts about the One True God and His Son, Jesus.
I had heard stories about those who reject Jesus because Christianity restricts worship to Jesus Christ alone. But to hear such rejection straight from the one who is lost is incredibly heartbreaking. This beautiful young woman has been blinded by the god of this world and cannot see the Light. I desperately longed for her to see that all other gods, idols and earthly things pale in comparison to the power and glory of our resurrected Savior.
But, this woman’s heart remains hardened, and I pray earnestly for God to change that.
