Psalm 19:7

The instruction of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul; the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise.

The Instruction of the Lord is perfect, reviving the soul
This morning as we headed to a slum area in the northeast area of Mumbai, I knew the Lord would stretch us. When we met with our translator, he rearranged the groups we had planned. My group hopped onto the commuter train. As the train started to move, so did God. Members of the team had opportunities to share Jesus with their seatmates. I was standing up in the car and was able to listen to 3 different groups simultaneously sharing the same incredible message of hope. Overhearing Jesus’ name being spoken lifted my soul and filled it with incredible peace.

The testimony of the Lord is trustworthy
Our group traveled to a home in a Buddhist community. As the translator turned to me to give the Gospel, I turned to God and relinquished control of what I wanted to say. I told the story of God’s love. Then I shared how a relationship with Jesus had changed my bitter, angry heart into one of joy. These stories were true and when speaking them out loud, I was moved once again with emotion. The plan of salvation is simple and has drastically changed my life. My story is one of God’s restorative power. He is glorified in its telling.

Making the inexperienced wise.
The family listened intently to everything we said. Unfortunately, the father of the home told us they were not yet ready to pay the high cost of following Jesus. Doing so would ostracize them from their community. He said he was not willing to risk the loss of potential husbands for his daughters. Following Christ might force them back to a lower caste system. The father told us he knew in his heart what we said must be true; yet he was not ready to follow.

I just have to believe and pray that the Lord will make the hearts of His children restless, until they allow Him to pick up the broken pieces of their lives and seal the gaps with His mercy.
